The Tanita BC-541 Body Composition Monitor uses the same accurate BIA technology used for monitoring body fat as found in our professional models.  BIA sends a safe, low-level electrical signal through the body. The signal passes freely through the fluids contained in muscle tissue and blood, but it encounters difficulty when passing through fat tissue, which contains little water. By using the impedance reading, the BC-541 can quickly and reliably calculate Weight, Body Fat %, Body Water %, Daily Caloric Intake, Bone Mass, and Metabolic Age.

Operating on four AA batteries (included), the Tanita BC-541 is intended for use by persons up to 150 kilos and, it operates for greater than 2 years on four AA batteries (included).
